Ben started Yeomen Tree Service as a sole proprietor in the summer of 2013. It was Ben's vision, and under his leadership, that the idea of converting the business to workers' co-operative was conceived and realized.

Ben has a bachelor of science in Biology from UBC and a master's degree in Child and Youth Care from UVic and worked as a registered clinical counsellor.

Since 2018, Ben has served as a councillor for the City of Nanaimo and Director of the Regional District of Nanaimo in addition to being a director of the co-op.
