Organic Foliar Spray

Organic dormant spraying is a preventative plant health treatment applied during the dormant season, after the leaves have fallen and before new buds swell in the spring. Its purpose is to suppress overwintering pests, eggs, and fungal spores that can cause serious damage once the growing season begins. We use dormant sprays as a key part of proactive tree care, especially for fruit trees, roses, and other plants prone to common insect and disease issues.

The best time for dormant spraying is in late winter or very early spring, during a period of dry weather when temperatures are above freezing but before buds begin to break. This timing ensures the spray coats branches, bark, and buds without harming tender new growth. A well-timed dormant spray can significantly reduce pest populations like aphids, scale, and mites, as well as fungal diseases such as apple scab, peach leaf curl, and powdery mildew, making it a valuable step for healthy, productive plants.

We recommend and use organic horticultural oil and lime sulphur blends, both approved for organic production, to create an effective barrier against pests and pathogens. These sprays work by smothering overwintering insects and disrupting fungal spores, without leaving harmful residues in the soil or on edible crops. As part of a comprehensive plant health care program, organic dormant sprays help set your garden up for a strong, disease-resistant growing season.
